Atomic Lantern Reviews

I collect lanterns so when I saw a box that said 'brightest lantern you'll ever own', I had to give it a try. The brightness is very modest compared to propane and liquid fuel lanterns (which normally run from 790-1540 lumens), but actually pretty good compared to other LED lanterns (which only normally go up to around 1000 lumens and most are in the sub 500 lumen range), and on par for the price. The battery life is supposed to be around 12 hours, which is also really good for three AA batteries, but I haven't tested that yet. I've run it for several hours and it's done well so far. As far as the durability, I sat it down kind of hard on accident and it turned off and wouldn't turn back on until I smacked the bottom of the unit.

I wouldn't trust the statement they make on their website that it can take a 50ft fall. I think that the internal switch that turns the lantern on when the top is raised is probably the weak spot on this lantern. Other than that, it seems very fair for the price. The sales pitch they use is somewhat deceptive by saying that they use the same 'technology' as the military and special forces.

Atomic Beam Lantern is a lantern that is ultra-bright and just may be the perfect companion for anyone stuck in the dark. Read the review to find out more. About Atomic Lantern. Atomic Lantern claims to be brighter and stronger than regular flashlight like the Atomic Beam. The Atomic Lantern claims to be of military.

The same could be said about the refrigerator in my house using the same technology as military refrigerators, lol. Very vague and general terms like 'military grade' and 'combat ready' are used on their site, but they never actually claim any military unit uses these lanterns. Pic related, it's the Atomic Beam next to a real military lantern. This lantern is indeed pretty bright, though of course not a bright as a white gas or propane lantern. It stays super bright for about an hour then does a slow fade. I used it with 2500 mah rechargeable batteries.

After two hours on, one of the LED strips melted the reflector and started to fall back into the unit. One I had purchased earlier at Walmart and gave away as a gift did the same thing. There is no warning that I can see against using it with rechargeable batteries, which I use for almost everything and which should be perfect for something like this. It still works, to be sure, but a good portion of the LED strip in question is now covered up by melted reflector.

Ordered this after seeing the TV ads and reviews. Wanted to have a quick source of light, just in case. Last night, my hubs borrowed it to BBQ out back. He hung it on a post.about 4 ft up.

If accidently came off the hook and hit the concrete. The base flew off and batteries came out. He replaced the batteries, screwed the base back on and it did work. But, upon closing, the light will not go off. So, we have to unscrew the base, take one battery out and attach it to one of the magnets on the base. So, not as durable as I thought and is now not working properly.

The flashlight is okay, very bright and also has strobe and flashes SOS as well. The lanterns are great. We have had 12 hour power outages where I live and these will come in very handy.

Super bright with handles to carry, a folding hanging clip on the bottom and the magnetic base is good and strong. Will be buying 2 more soon. Takes 3 AA batteries. Haven't tested how long they will last yet, but keeping spare batteries on hand is easy. Recently I purchased the atomic beam lantern. Well It fell and would not light when I picked it up nor could I get the cap off of the bottom to check if maybe one of the batteries jammed the cap. Anyway, I called the number for customer service and the rep asked me some questions had me email him a photo of the item.

The next day I received an e-mail saying I would receive a replacement in approx. Well it was only about 2 1/2 weeks and I received the new one today. My hat is off to the customer service rep. I love this lantern it's awesome very bright, compact, and great to have around the house, outdoors, and even in the shop. I would of given the quality higher but I found a slight flaw in the one i bought and I hope no one else experiences the same problem as i did with mine. The batteries if dropped have a problem they will come loose inside the unit and makes it almost impossible to remove the bottom to put the batteries back into the device, but from what i seen to give them a better design to hold the batteries in better.
